Prelude/Time of Meditation/Prayer
Call to Worship* (Responsively)
In the wilderness, God calls to us.
We come, seeking God’s presence and guidance.
In times of testing, God is our strength.
We trust in the One who delivers and sustains us.
Come, beloved of God, and walk the Lenten journey.
We set our hearts on the path of faith, hope, and love.
All: Let us worship the Lord, who leads us through
the wilderness into life. Amen.

As we go, may your Spirit go before us.
As we go, may we follow where You lead.
May we live what we have learned,
Share the message we have heard.
And be a light unto the world as we go.
*Please stand as you are able.
You Are My Hiding Place
You are my hiding place, You always fill my heart
with songs of deliverance—Whenever I am afraid,
I will trust in You. I will trust in You: Let the weak say,
“I am strong in the strength of the Lord!”
You are my hiding place, You always fill my heart
with songs of deliverance. Whenever I am afraid,
I will trust in You.

Psalm 32:1-7
1-2 What happiness for those whose guilt has been forgiven! What joys when sins are covered over! What relief for those who have confessed their sins and God has cleared their record.
3 There was a time when I wouldn’t admit what a sinner I was.[a] But my dishonesty made me miserable and filled my days with frustration.
4 All day and all night your hand was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water on a sunny day 5 until I finally admitted all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide them. I said to myself, “I will confess them to the Lord.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.
6 Now I say that each believer should confess his sins to God when he is aware of them, while there is time to be forgiven. Judgment will not touch him[b] if he does.
7 You are my hiding place from every storm of life; you even keep me from getting into trouble! You surround me with songs of victory.

Lent is a season of spiritual preparation before Easter. It is marked by:
- Fasting
- Repentance
- Reflection on Christ’s life and sacrifice
- Giving up certain habits or foods
- Engaging in spiritual disciplines to deepen faith and relationship with God
No one may be exempt from temptation. But we can certainly defend ourselves and relieve all temptations by praying for and imploring the help of God. In the book on the old fathers of the church, we read that a young brother wanted to be rid of his evil thoughts. The old father said: Dear brother, you cannot prevent the birds from flying in the air over your head, but you can certainly prevent them from building a nest in your hair.
Martin Luther, Explanation of the Lord’s Prayer
