Call to Worship* (Responsively)
People of God, called to be apostles of Jesus
Christ: gather in the grace and peace that God
provides.
God puts a new song in our mouths; we will
sing of God’s wondrous deeds.
Wait patiently for God, who hears our cries;
Put your trust in God’s steadfast love.
God’s law is written in our hearts; we will
delight in doing God’s will.
Receive God’s saving help within your hearts;
acknowledge God’s gifts in all you do.
God grants us spiritual gifts in abundance; we
will use them for the benefit of God’s people.
All: Amen.

We welcome Rev. Mang Sonna today to preach and share the work of Bethel Neighborhood Center in Kansas City. Bethel opened its doors on April 11, 1911, as a mission center of The Women's Baptist Home Mission Society, which is now known as the American Baptist Women's Ministries. The primary mission was to serve needy families living near or working in the meat-packing plants of the West Bottoms of Kansas City. Many of them were new immigrants from Eastern European countries. Our neighborhood has gone through many changes over the last 113 years, but the mission remains the same.
